The bowling alley was crowded, as it always was, as Miyuki asked the guy behind the counter for her sized shoes. He handed them to her rather quickly and she put them on at the table behind the alley her friends had already chose.

“Hey, yah going to beat your high score there June?” one of her friends asked another.

“You can only get so many points in one game, I doubt I will bowl a perfect.”

    “You never know.”

Miyuki smiled as her friends talked and went up to bowl when it became her turn. She took her favourite ball, which felt amazingly light in her hand, and stood at the alley, pitching it down the centre. The ball glided off her hand and onto wood floor smoothly and fluidly. Miyuki watched as it knocked all but two pins down to the floor.

“Whoo! Congrats Miy. Best bowl of the round,” she was applauded, but she was still looking at her pins, they had fallen silently. So had the ball as it hit the ground and rolled. She looked around the rest of the room. It was quiet and dark, not like it had been.

“Something wrong Miy?” A friend asked. Miyuki looked at them and took a step back. They did not look like her friends, something was wrong about them. Their voices distorted as they continued to ask if something was the matter. She stepped further back as they got closer, backing further away until she ended up in a corner, where these, things, were closing in on her.

“You all right Miy?” The distorted figure asked in its twisted voice. Miyuki made the mistake of looking down at their feet to find the floor disappearing as they stepped on it. By now she had pressed herself as far as she could into the corner, she could feel the pattern of the carved wood press into her back.

One reached out its deformed finger to trace along her chin. “Miyuki, are you all right?” It asked. The floor gave way from underneath her.

She woke, in the bed, with the redhead’s face inches from her. “You okay Miyuki?” he asked.

Frightened, she grabbed around the redhead’s neck, pulling herself up with one arm in order to bury her head into his shoulder. The redhead’s first reaction was to pull away, not accustomed to such contact with her or anyone else, but could hear the monitor that still beeped out her heart quietly slow as she calmed down.

She struggled for a moment to catch her breath. She knew those three who were bowling with Sarai, June, Tj. They were her friends, the ones who had made the video on the music player. She could remember their names, or at least she was hoping that was their names, because it was only their names she could remember.

“Maybe we should take that as a not really,” Miyuki heard a voice behind them say. Upon realizing there was more than just the redhead in the room, she let go of the redhead’s neck, laying down in the bed and pulling the blanket up to her face. Both the redhead and the injured boy, now on crutches, were in the room, and the doctor just behind them. The boy turned to leave after she laid down in her bed, and was followed by the doctor.

The redhead looked slightly displeased and irritated as the curtains came to a close. He looked back at Miy who was staring sadly instead of frightened at the split in the curtain before he pulled out the chair from the table, sitting down in it and opening a book up to read it, with his back towards Miy.

Miyuki looked at the back of his head, wondering what he was doing there. She wished it was the other guy who had stayed instead of him. It annoyed her how he just sat there reading the book in his hand and not even a simple greeting from him.
